I haven’t tried this but wondering if it’s possible to use device GPS and still receive SkyEcho Traffic Source.Suffered SkyEcho disconnect on previous flight so wishing to achieve setup that maintains SkyDemon.Using iPhone 6 and SkyEcho with most recent updates and no SIM fitted in iPhone.

No, I understand that SD receives the traffic information (with GPS coordinates) and your own-ship position (with GPS coordinates and GPS altitude) from the same source (here SkyEcho).

However, your handheld device will use its inbuilt GPS receiver (or an external GPS receiver linked to it via BlueTooth) as GPS source for any other applications that need GPS coordinates.

It has been previously reported that, occasionally, the WIFI connection between SE2 and SD drops. I am not sure what causes this and only saw it once happen to me during SE2 testing. I was at home testing SE2 (in RX only mode) and during around 20 hrs of continuous SE2 operation the WIFI connection dropped once.

@Tony N: No pressurisation. Just an ordinary PA28.

@Tim Dawson: Wouldn‘t that be a great idea?

@Jan von Hassel
I think you have a faulty SE2. I have never seen behaviour like that with mine.

There are only so many lengths I wish to go to, in our SkyDemon software, to try to work around the fact that some people have a faulty (or just bad) traffic receiver device.

I encountered several times significantly wrong altitude indications (several hundred up to 2000 ft difference) using SkyEcho II as a GPS source so I would like to ask for a definitive answer: Is there any way to show SkyEcho traffic in SD not chosing SkyEcho as the GPS source? Thanks!

No.

FYI, I have used my SE2 now for about 2 years and have never experienced an issue like you describe.
Are you using your SE2 in a pressurised cabin?

Not original OP, just ran into a very strange error taking off today from Cannes.  I suspect that either my SE2 or my SafeSky decided to go crazy, and switching to internal GPS on the ipad brought things back to normal.  This was not a Skydemon issue, but it would be interesting to know if there would be a way to avoid it trying to display bad info.

On both images, my actual position was at the far left part of the blue track.  The display was jumping back and forth very quickly, so distracting that I had to do the "stop navigating" and the "go flying" again.  I tried rebooting the SE2, didn't help.  Using the internal GPS worked fine.  Later, I stopped the SafeSky and connected Skydemon directly to the SE2 and it worked fine.  I didn't take time to troubleshoot further as I was busy flying.

No action needed, just thought this was interesting.
